‘Circular economy’ is the best way to deal with the effects of climate change

KATHMANDU - Experts working in this field have said that by adopting the circular economy method, the effects of increasing climate change can be avoided in Nepal. This was stated in the training on the importance of circular economy organized by Wildlife Conservation Nepal in Kathmandu for the media in collaboration with European Union's financial support and Impact Hub.

Speaking at the beginning of the program, the joint secretary of the Ministry of Forestry and Environment Dr. Maheshwar Dhakal said that in the circular economic system, Nepal should only set goals that it can achieve. He said, 'Now other countries of the world have returned to nature. Nepal's natural heritage should be protected and properly utilized at the right time.'

Director of Wildlife Conservation Nepal, Sajeevani Yonjan Shrestha, said that since the world is moving towards a circular economic system, Nepal should not delay in adopting this system. The time has come for producers and policy makers to pay attention to this matter, she said, "The circular economy is the policy of not producing waste as much as possible, reusing it even if it is produced or recycling it and only discarding it as waste." Everyone should understand this.

Pitambar Sigdel, an environmental journalist and editor of Nature Khabar, who has been writing about climate change and the environment for a long time, said that the main way to avoid the effects of climate change and climate adaptation is circular economy. "When we write about how to deal with the effects of climate change, it is time to connect the circular economy together. Its importance is increasing," he said.

Environmental journalist Suwodh Gautam told the participants about the importance of news related to the circular economy, the challenges he faced while writing news, as well as the topic and writing style of the news. The participants in the program stressed on taking the country into a circular economy system and taking action to protect the environment. The training was conducted on Tuesday and Wednesday.
