Heads of state and executives will not attend Sagarmatha Sambad,


Kathmandu - The much-awaited international conference on the environment to be held by the Nepal government, Sagarmatha Sambad, will not be attended by any head of state or chief executive of any country.
The government is going to organize the Sagarmatha Sambad program from next Friday to Sunday at the Soaltee Hotel in Kathmandu. The theme of the first series of the dialogue has been set as 'Climate Change, Mountains and the Future of Humanity'. The government says that such dialogues can be held every two years on any topic.
At a press conference organized on Tuesday to provide information about the final preparations for the Sagarmatha Sambad, Sagarmatha Sambad Management Coordinator and Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba informed that environment ministers from some countries are going to come with the highest portfolio from the political level.
He gave this information after journalists repeatedly asked about the high-level political level participating in the dialogue program.
According to Rana Deuba, only political levels from 12 countries will participate in the dialogue, whom Minister Deuba has called high-level guests. The highest portfolios are being led by environment ministers from some of those countries.
Apart from politics, representatives of organizations active in the field of environment and climate are also participating in the dialogue. Such representatives are participating from about 40 countries. Representatives of organizations active in the field of environment and climate change are especially coming to this program.
According to Minister Rana Deuba, a total of 350 people are participating in the dialogue, including 175 foreign guests and 175 domestic participants.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will inaugural the dialogue and deliver a welcome speech to the guests. During the same session, Mukhtar Babayev, President of the 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 29), held in Baku, Azerbaijan, will deliver a special address. He is also the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan.
A video message by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will also be presented in the inaugural session.
According to Minister Deuba, the Environment Minister from India, our southern neighbor, and the Vice Chair of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China, our northern neighbor, are coming to participate in the dialogue.
She informed that as many young people as possible will be involved in the dialogue program. She also informed that the dialogue program will be broadcast live.
