Youths in Nepal Pressurized For Climate Change Justice

Youths in Nepal pressurized stakeholders and policy makers to take actions on Climate change through different ground action event in Kathmandu. In the Ground Action event different ground action activities were done like: Flash mob, street drama, songs and documentary screening. The drama highlighted climate change impacts in different sectors of the environment and the role of individual efforts to combat climate change, Documentary highlighted the Journey to Yarsa and its impact on children life.
According to Sanju Shrestha,NYCA ,Network Coordinator, "These activities was instrumental in bringing Nepalese youths together to discuss on climate change and sustainable development issues, sensitize them for climate action and collectively push local and central governments to mainstream climate change issues in development process. "
On the occasion of Global Day of Action, 2017, Nepalese Youth for Climate Action (NYCA) together with Clean Energy Nepal (CEN) has organized “COP23 Ground Action Event” in support of Plan International. During the COP, people especially youths around the globe try to pressurize the world leaders by demonstrating different activities, awareness programs and campaigns. Youths across the world observe the Global Day of Action on the first Saturday during the COP.
United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) entered into force in 1994, aimed at reducing greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere. All the signatory member states to the convention attend the Conference of Parties (COP) every year. This year, the 23rd session of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP23) is being organized from 6-17th, November, 2017 in Bonn, Germany and will be presided over by the Government of Fiji.
