Walking in the Kathmandu is like walking in batterfield of Mahabharat . There is no proper infrastructure that ensures safety of pedestrians.High risk of road mishap is seen among the pedestrians after one involving motorbikes.According to data of Metropolitan Traffic department, from year 2069 to 2072, 42 % of total death of pedestrians in road accident in Kathmandu . And as per WHO , each year 270,000 pedestrian lose their life in road accident .

Concerning the safety of pedestrians Metropolitan Traffic police Division and Resources center of primary health care organized the campaign today in the Basantapur .With the demand of inclusive footpaths for all , safe zebra crossing with basis traffic amenities ,discourse overhead bridge as many people like senior citizens ,porters , pregnant women and differently able people find it difficult .

According to RECPHEC ,"Developing countries are experiencing rapid urbanization; there is no question about that. But, in our case it is rapid and haphazard. The challenge that comes along is pollution, congestion and many others. "

According to reports, the travel mode share of Kathmandu shows that that people walking every day is more than people with private vehicles.The campaign is focus on activity like human chain with relative messages and street drama and similar activities.
