As new date for second phase of local election has been fixed for June 28 with repeated postponements, monsoon is likely to affect it According to the department of hydrology and Meteorology, Meteorologist Samir Shrestha , There will be some delay to begin monsoon . Last year, Monsoon was delayed by five days. There would not specific day of monsoon, it happens in the duration of some days. We do not see that monsoon entered on June 10 exactly." he said.
There will be incessant rain during the monsoon season which makes the ground and rivers will swell. So that there are suggestions to maintain a caution, Meteorologist suggests that people should be cautious about the illness due to rain and keep in the mind the problems they faced in the past. They suggest taking necessary security measures to avoid such hassles during the monsoon season.
During the monsoon season it is difficult for the people to travel due to rain, landslide and other reasons. And, Monsoon lasts nearly for three months and it usually begins in the first week of June. Moreover, Terai region is more vulnerable to extreme climate, flood and inundation during the monsoon.
Generally monsoon enters Nepal on June 10 and withdraws on September 23 every year. Nepal receives an average of 80 percent of annual rainfall during the monsoon, which originated in the Bay of Bengal and moves along the southern flanks of Himalayas, bringing rains to Nepal.
