Temperature rise by 0.056 per Year

The temperature of Nepal is rising by 0.056°C per year due to climate change. This fact has been released according to the analysis report of Department of Hydrology and Meteorology conducted over 93 weather measurement stations.

From 1971 to 2014, 44 years of temperature and rain data have been analyzed. Earlier, Nepal has been saying the rate of temperature rise all over the world is 0.04°C.

The Government of Nepal has never conducted such systematic and comprehensive study of temperature increase rate earlier. The study carried out by other different organization was the baseline for such case. After the formation of National Adaption Plan (NAP) department, it has analysed temperature of whole country for 44 years.

New data of temperature rise revealed Nepal is more vulnerable in perspective of climate change.

On the occasion of Environment Day on Monday climate trend analysis of Nepal from 1971 to 2014 was released by Environment and Population Minister, Jaya Dev Joshi and former Minister Man Bahadur Bishokarma.

This report has now been made public to increase awareness about the condition of climate change.

In the Himalayan region temperature increase rate is very high.

In the recent years, Nepal is experiencing the visible impact of climate change on agriculture, biodiversity, health, tourism, infrastructure and water resources.
