Get up for the Nationwide clean up

Every Saturday, we clean up the Bagmati River.This practice is gaining more and more momentum in every passing week. Thishowever hasn’t been able to address the issue of all-round cleaning at every nooks and crannies. The cleanup effort should have covered the cleaning of every cornerswhich doesn’t seen to have come into practice in our country. Our city is being dusty day by day. People who brag about their education and civilization don’t hesitate a bit to throw garbage and litter everywhere. It has been a sheer impossibility to find but even to imagine for the clean area in our valley.

Everyone dreams and wishes to live in a clean and healthy environment. To make change in a tangible way, everybody should engage in the initiative work like this rather than airing their complains towards the government for failing to keep our cities clean.
Joining the Nationwide clean-upcampaign sends out a very positive vibe for cleaning our area.

The upcoming 17th of September holds a special importance for the collective commitment towards cleaning up our local communities.Following the legacy of 2013, 2014 and 2015 cleaning efforts, the entire nation is set to observe the 2016 reiteration of the nationwide mega cleaning event. The morning starting from 7 am till 11 am has been proposed as a time in which every responsible stakeholders are expected to engage in clean up acts.

With this event, Clean up Nepal aims to connect, engage and empower local communities, community groups, educational institutions, businesses, and local governments to join the clean up movement in order to address local environmental issues in a simple and visible way. These annual nationwide cleanups are a demonstration of communities and groups all over Nepal leading the cleaning and maintenance of the environments they live, work and play in.

The Nationwide cleanup day 2016 is affiliated to the clean up the world campaign that engages an estimated 35 million volunteers in 130 countries each year. According to Aakash Shrestha, communication officer of clean up Nepal," The concept of this event is that community members themselves should be aware and get involved to keep the community clean.

This kind of event is necessary to keep the community informed and also encourage them to be engaged for a cleaner surrounding." Nationwide cleanups are supported every year by the Australian Embassy in Kathmandu and different organization and groups throughout Nepal join their forces for its effective enactment
