A farmer was exploring a cave that had never been found in Phon Nha-ke Bag National Park back in 1991, when an unexpected blast of water emerged from one of the entrances.





From there, the cave became known as Son Doong, which is a term that the Vietnamese use to denote a “water cave”. 18 years after the farmer’s initial discovery, a new group of scientists elected to explore the cave. They were stunned to find the world’s largest cave and a portal to a whole new world.
